Connecticut Georeferenced Historical Maps

The images of historic Connecticut statewide and county maps seen here come from several collections. The maps were scanned and geocorrected here by students at MAGIC. It should be noted that the original maps were drawn in a time well before modern cartographic techniques were available and therefore did not have datum and projection information as most modern maps do. An attempt was made to best fit the maps to a modern projection which caused major distortions from the original product. The horizontal accuracy of the final GIS products is much worse than modern GIS data and locations should be considered approximate. The undistorted scans are available online under the Historical Scanned Map Collection at MAGIC.
