Instructions for loading ERMapper compressed images into ArcView 3.X and AgrcGIS 8.x 1. Visit the ER Mapper. website and go to the downloads page. Go to the "ECW native support & Application plugins" section of the page, then download and install the appropriate .ecw plugin for your software. 2. In ArcView 3.x you need to turn on the "ECW vx.x and ER Mapper Images" extension to your project from the "File\Extension" menu. 2b. For ArcGIS-ArcMap turn on the "ECW and ER Mapper" toolbar under the view\toolbars menu 3. In your web Browser start from here and browse to the page of the image you want. 4. Highlight the long "ecwp://xx.xx.xx.xx.ecw" url at the bottom of the page and press "Ctrl C" to copy it. 5. In ArcView/ArcGIS, open a view/dataframe and you will see the 6. Press this button and paste the "ecwp://xx.xx.xx.xx.ecw" url into the dialog box by pressing "Ctrl V". 7. Press "ok" and wait for the image to load. Notes The image page is still a work in progress. Some images may not be completed yet or may not display properly. You must be online to use this feature. A new image is downloaded each time you zoom or pan the view. Most images will take a while to load using a standard 56k modem. A high speed internet connection is recommended. Use of this extension may leave many .bil images in one of your temp folders depending on your setup. You should search for and delete them these images often. |
